Injecting Botox for the Prevention of Chronic Migraines

Dr. Bergin injects Botox (onabotulinumtoxinA) for the prevention of headaches in adult patients with chronic migraines. Chronic migraines occur more than 15 days per month with headaches lasting four hours a day or longer. Safety and effectiveness haven’t been established for the prevention of episodic migraines (14 headache days or fewer per month in seven placebo-controlled studies.

Treating Upper Limb and Lower
Limb Spasticity with Botox

At W.A.B. Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation of Pennsylvania, PC, W. Bergin, DO, we also use Botox for the treatment of the upper limb and lower limb spasticity in adult patients. Our aim is to decrease the severity of increased muscle tone in elbow flexors (biceps), wrist flexors and finger flexors. We must note that safety and effectiveness of Botox haven’t been established for the treatment of other upper limb muscle groups, or for the treatment of lower limb spasticity. Please also note that safety and effectiveness of Botox haven’t been established for the treatment spasticity in pediatric patients younger than 18 years old.

Xeomin to Treat Cervical Dystonia

Dr. Bergin utilizes Botox for the treatment of adults with cervical dystonia to reduce the severity of abnormal head position and neck pain associated with cervical dystonia. Botox and Xeomin injections can be significantly effective in treating cervical dystonia. Dr. Bergin injects the areas affected by cervical dystonia.
